Meaning ‘old house of Palheiro’, the Casa Velha is a wonderfully elegant country house hotel, formerly a hunting lodge and built over 200 years ago.

The atmosphere is peaceful as you cross polished wood floors and step out onto the terrace. Rooms are individually decorated in a traditional style with pretty floral fabrics and antique style furniture.

Many rooms look out onto the beautiful gardens of the hotel and the Palheiro Gardens, carefully planted with exotic trees and plants from all over the world. If you play golf, the 18-hole Palheiro course is next door and the club house has captivating views over Funchal, 7km away.
