Hotel Description

Reid’s Palace is one of the world’s great names and justly so. Now a owned by Orient-Express Hotels, tasteful renovation has ensured that it offers the modern facilities and comfort guests expect whilst retaining the style and elegance of a glorious bygone era.

Exemplary service and fine dining are also things for which the hotel is renowned. The décor is classical with antique style furniture, pretty fabrics and crisp linen.

Afternoon tea is still served on the terrace and in the lounge exactly as it has been since Reid’s opened in 1891, and as enjoyed by Sir Winston and Lady Churchill, royalty and countless celebrities.

The hotel has inviting views of the ocean and over Funchal to the east. It also has direct access for bathing in the sea and a new addition is the delight of indulgent treatments in The Spa with products from La Prairie, Ytsara, Aromatherapy Associates and La Stone.

The hotel also caters exceptionally well for children with a family orientated kids' club; children's menus and family activities which include dolphin watching. Reid's Palace also provides a club for teenagers, with modern facilities including two Apple computers and a variety of games consoles to keep them entertained.
